Summary and Essential Duties

The Vineyard Manager manages every aspect of the vineyard operation, including grape production, equipment reliability, organizing and supervising staff, and assuring compliance with all regulations related to grape production. The Vineyard Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of a 1,000-acre vineyard participating in all aspects of vineyard operations from the ground up.

Essential Duties:

  • Cultivating, thinning, pruning, tying, suckering, canopy management, planting and replanting, irrigating, and harvesting
  • Upkeep of all production machinery, equipment and supplies as well as problem solve equipment malfunctions
  • Pest, fungicide, and herbicide management
  • Irrigating, monitoring, and making recommendations related to vineyard and fruit quality
  • Erosion control, trellis Installation, irrigation installation, frost protection, vineyard installation, fence installation, and R&M
  • Estimate harvest equipment needed; provide accurate harvest estimates; work within assigned budgets
  • Managing, scheduling and training staff on daily farming activities
  • Responsible for vineyard contract management and act as a harvest liaison between vineyard and wineries
  • Search out and evaluate vineyard problems and make recommendations that provide effective, timely and economic solutions and deliver quality fruit
  • Ensure compliance with country, state and federal regulations
  • Other duties as assigned


  • 5+ years of farming experience required; Degree in Agriculture or a related discipline a plus
  • 2+ years of leadership experience required
  • Ability to operate and maintain production machinery and equipment required
  • Understanding of vineyard/farm management practices and procedures
  • Demonstrated leadership and decision-making skills
  • Must have strong computer skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills
  • Ability to speak Spanish a plus
  • Must be flexible and willing to work the demands of the department which may be subject to evenings, weekends and holidays.


  • Minimum 5 years of farming experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or a related discipline
  • Understanding of vineyard/farm management practices and procedures
  • Willingness to perform any and all functions required to operate the vineyard
  • Demonstrated leadership and decision-making skills
  • Must have strong computer skills and the ability to multi-task
  • A strong and proven work ethic
  • Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills
  • Functional Spanish a plus, but not required
