Job Description

The Farms Business Manager supports in overseeing the overall strategy, planning, and implementation of the operational elements to support the Dairy Farm. They support HR in associate relations, compensation, security, and other HR-related functions and manages and coordinates day-to-day activities.

 

Essential Duties:

  • Responsible for managing day-to-day administrative activity to include cattle activity reporting, coordinating calendars, meetings, trainings, and general administrative duties
  • Serves as a source of expertise as measured by cost per CWT, income over feed cost, and animal mortality rate.
  • Assists in annual budget preparation and communication process
  • Confers with department heads and other internal customers to ensure coordination of operations activities with activities of other functions such as Corporate, Conventional herd, Organic herd, calf and Heifer Operations, etc.
  • Create monthly checks and balances for sales, deeds and other operation activities
  • Work with Human Resources in handling issues including but not limited to hiring, feedback, disciplinary actions, termination, and payroll
  • Maintains a safe environment for all department functions as measured by the safety record, accident-free days, lost time days and total dollars spent.
  • Supports and initiates continuous Business Process Improvement (SPBI) as measured by total projects completed project participation, and total dollars saved
  • Ensure compliance for all governmental regulations as well as customer-related inspections to include FDA, USDA, OSHA, State, County and Federal inspections
  • Cross train associates in the use of herd and feed management software 
  • Other duties as assigned.
     

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in animal sciences, or related field preferred
  • 2 years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate in Dairy Spanish; Bilingual Preferable
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Strong team approach to management, communication, and people skills
  • Highly dependable and with good time management skills
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public
  • Must be flexible and willing to work the demands of the department which are subject to evenings, weekends, and holidays
